Wireless Sensors

Wireless IT Sensors

Our Wireless IT sensors collect monitoring data every minute and communicate that data back to a RIOT-S base unit using a wireless radio network. The IT sensors are battery powered and can be placed directly in location with no need for further wiring, they are able to span between buildings and over multiple floors with the use of signal repeater units.

Easy to View Data

Data from the ITs can be viewed on graphs via a RIOT-S unit or on our WebREACT and WebREACT Lite software via a PC or smart phone

Optional Number of Inputs

The IT sensor has the capability to monitor up to 3 inputs per unit (dependent on requirements)

If It Can Be Measured, It Can Be Monitored

IT units can measure temperature, humidity, digital status, frequency, flow, pressure, voltage and more:

Temperature

Variety of Sensor Types

IT’s  are available as single, dual or triple input, and can be fitted with various sensor options:

  • Air
  • Simulated core with fluid bottle
  • Stab
  • Surface

Calibration

All IT temperature sensors are supplied with a 3 point UKAS traceable calibration as standard at -30°C, 0.0°C and +30°C.
IT Temperature sensors can be installed directly into your refrigeration units if the temperature range is between -35°C to +40°C.

If installation into the unit is not possible the IT can be installed outside of unit/environment but fitted with temperature sensor on long cable, that can read from -199°C to +200°C.

Suitable for monitoring:

  • Cooker
  • Ambient
  • Fridge
  • Freezer
  • Blast freezer
  • Low temperature i.e liquid nitrogen cryogenics.

Robust & Watertight

A standard air and/or core IT Temperature Monitoring sensor is housed in a durable stainless steel enclosure then in IP68 bags enabling them to be used in wash down areas. The sensor is mounted on a stainless bracket

HACCP

The HACCP IT unit has a number of functions to aid Quality Assurance and due diligence – Different users can carry out instantaneous checks on areas, deliveries, products with time and date stamped results that are automatically downloaded when within range of the RIOT-S base unit.

All tests are displayed on the relevant screen on the WebREACT system, each test can also be selected and a comment added with the save report function.
The IT Quality Assurance (QA) function holds all item descriptions and set points for all checked areas; QA personnel would select an area, the relevant set-points would be displayed and the unit would start to monitor the temperature.

Humidity & PH

Our Humidity sensors have been used previously by customers to:

  • Unobtrusively monitor humidity and temperature inside a sealed vessel during curing of epoxy resins.
  • Monitor dehumidifiers within productions environments to ensure product is at correct specifications (Example: dry age meat)
  • Provide welfare monitoring for staff work environments.

Monitored values  are shown on the system graphs as relative humidity percentage.

Our IT sensors have multiple input options, if you are looking for humidity monitoring, we can add monitoring for temperature to the same IT sensor.

PH Monitoring

We can supply mobile or stationary PH monitoring sensors. Examples of previous customer use include:

  • Effluent monitoring to meet national grid discharge requirements.
  •  Incoming water from bore hole.

Digital

Instances of use:

Our Digital IT sensors are used to provide notifications for relay outputs on digital systems :

Compressors: We supplied a Digital IT sensor connected to a relay held in the “ON” position, which generated alarms on the monitoring system in the event of failure or power loss.

Effluent plant monitoring: We supplied a Digital IT sensor that connected to the relay on PLC to trigger alarms on the existing AAW monitoring system installed on site: which prevented the customer having  to purchase a 2nd system for effluent monitoring.

Hospital Refrigeration: Commonly units have relays attached that can generate alarms for doors, internal fridge battery, temperature; we can connect the relay to a digital IT sensor which will send the data to the monitoring system/generate required alarms.

Door Monitoring

ITs with door sensors can be supplied as magnetic proximity sensors or rotary limit switches, the sensor looks for changes in resistance.

  • Used within chill environments in factory’s to reduce energy usage.
  • Used in hospitals as an early warning system for issues with a door being left open (prior to the temperature rising enough to trigger an alarm).

Gas Sensing

The below list demonstrates a small number of the various gases that we can supply detector sensors for:

  • CO2
  • O2
  • Large range of refrigerant (Ammonia, R22, R404A, R600A R134A, R600A)

The readings can be provided in a number of possible formats:

  • PPH/Percentage
  • PPM
  • PPB
  • PPT

Leak detection sensors can be used to detect early signs of any leaks on site, the monitoring system will then trigger an alarm to alert you.

Can I use existing leak detection sensors?

Dependent on the output, it is usually possible to use a 4-20mA IT sensor to add your existing leak detection sensors to an AAW system. The next section can provide further information regarding 4-20mA sensors.

Single, Dual & Triple Input

Our IT sensors have multiple input options, if you are looking for leak detection, we can add monitoring for temperature and pressure; All on one IT sensor.

4-20mA & 0-10v...

The 4-20mA and 0-10V IT’s allow AAW to integrate any other sensor types into our monitoring system and configure to show values/monitoring/alarm notifications.

  • Capable of using I²C.

Instances of use:

Ultrasonic Fluid level in a Water Tank: Used to monitor the water levels within a tank, providing site with real time visibility levels, which prevented water shortages on site.
Water hardness sensor: Enabled site to understand when it was required to soften water – enabling them to accurately reduce their consumables usage.
